Brick From a Stone: Arch Revival
Albion Stone is delighted to return to Clerkenwell Design Week with our installation, Brick from a Stone: Arch Revival, as a key feature. Running from 20th to 22nd May 2025, this year’s innovative pavilion will be on display outside the historic Crown Tavern pub on Clerkenwell Green.
Over the past several months, we have been working closely with our industry partners—architecture practice Hawkins\Brown and engineering consultancy Webb Yates Engineers—to design a project that pushes the boundaries of traditional stone construction. Building on the success of last year’s installation, which quickly became one of the most talked-about structures at the event, Arch Revival is set to raise the bar even higher.
The installation will be strikingly positioned between the two iconic red London phone boxes, symbolising the fusion of tradition and modernity. The structure will feature outer loadbearing stones crafted from our signature Portland stone, along with Darney Sandstone from Hutton Stone. This dynamic combination not only showcases the strength and beauty of natural stone but also celebrates the craftsmanship and sustainable design that define our work.
In addition to the visual feast of Arch Revival, Brick From a Stone is excited to host a series of events during the exhibition. We will hold breakfast meetings and two insightful talks, providing an opportunity for industry professionals, designers, and the public to engage in discussions on innovative approaches to stone architecture and sustainable construction. These sessions will offer an in-depth look at the creative and engineering processes behind the installation, as well as future trends in loadbearing stone design.
We are thrilled to return to Clerkenwell Design Week and to have the opportunity to showcase how our stone can be transformed into an architectural marvel that enriches public spaces. Our installation is a testament to the enduring beauty of natural materials and the innovative spirit of modern design.
