The Seamore Project comprises the redevelopment of 18-23 Curzon Street, 21-22 Pitts Head Mews, No.4 and No.9 Curzon Place and the demolition of buildings at the rear of the property in Curzon Street.
The prestigious development based in the City of London, in an area of outstanding Listed Heritage buildings, required sensitive and empathetic planning and design.
Plans were forwarded to Westminster City Council with Donald W Insall & Associates acting as the Heritage Consultants to ensure the projects conformity with stringent planning regulations. Rolfe Judd Architects specified Portland Stone for the project to be in keeping with existing Portland Stone buildings in the surrounding area.
The Project Team visited the Portland Quarries to view the Portland Beds. Portland Grove Whitbed from Independent Quarry was selected for exciting characteristics which exhibit small shell fossils and open areas.
Albion Stone supplied approximately 8m³ of Grove Whitbed. The project was completed 2002 at an estimated value of £30 million.
